10 things must do in Kodaikanal, Tamilnadu:Ptaa Hai...!!!

Planning for the vacations in summers...? and finding it too hot everywhere...? Don't fret... there is a place which is best visited in summers. Once at Kodaikanal ... One would feel as if nature has turned on its Air Conditioners with pristine freshness.

Kodaikanal !! “Princess of hill stations”

The Summer-relief place one must visit !

1:   Visit Kodai Lake:
Kodai Lake is a manmade lake (But doesn't look like). Houses the main market and offers umpteen things to do.

·       Boating is available at standard rates in different boats like-: Shikara, Paddle Boat, Machine boat etc.
·       Homemade chocolates are another attraction. One can find many shops. Those who are really fond of the homemade chocolate then take the no. of any of the shopkeepers they will send via courier as well by taking additional courier charges.
·       For small kids, soft toys shops are there.
·       One can get beautiful “Shankh” (Shell) with one’s names engraved on it from Roadside shops. Other than “shankhs”, one may get it on keychains as well.
·       Horse Ridding: Those who want to do horse riding but never got the chance in life to do it then it’s the best place for you.

2.    Mannauvanur Park: It’s the best place to visit but the weather should not be hot. It’s a really scenic scene.

One may spend hours sitting in the lap of nature. The most peaceful place and very vast fields of grass.

3.    Coakkers Walk: It’s around half-a-km small road running alongside the periphery of a big mountain range and gives a very beautiful view of the entire range of mountains as well as plains.

It’s a must place to visit and it’s just at the walking distance from the Kodai lake main bus stop.

4.    Bryant Park: Bryant Park is a very big garden. A variety of flowers and a place to sit and relax.

One of it's gate opens at the exit of Coakkers walk and the other opens towards the Kodai Lake.

5.    Green Valley View: Another attraction is “The green Valley view”. It was earlier known as “The Suicide Point” and was not much popular because of its name.

The valley view from the top is really soothing and the experience of being among clouds is something those who experience can only know about.

6.    Pillar Rocks: The pillar rock is a point near green valley view. Here one can witness the beauty of nature and the architecture of nature how beautifully rocks are standing and appears as if somebody has carved them like pillars. Maybe that’s why they are being called “Pillar rocks”

7.    Pine Forest: It’s a nice place. There are many points to get in the forest. One may take the forest tour also.

Long trees and the fresh air which one can never get in the cities. Few points are very steep and few are plain. Better to go through plains.

8.    Poombarai Village View: The view of the village from many points one may get.

It looks like in the lap of nature human beings are residing. Surrounded by the mountain range the view of the village is amazing.

9.    Guna Caves: Guna caves are also known as “Devil’s kitchen”. No idea why it’s called so.

View of the valley from this point is also very fascinating and what awes is the roots of the trees which look as if thousands of snakes are entangled together. Consider your trip to be incomplete had you not visited here. And if you have a DSLR you can have a good shoot.

10.  Shembaganur Museum of Natural History
Enroute Kodai Road Railway Station the museum is around 5 kms down the hill. For the students of science and Biology it’s a must place to go. The museum has unique collection of preserved varieties of species. Few of them are depict their early stages of life (including embryotic stages).
