The importance of sleep for baby: The more the baby sleeps the more they grow. Don’t disturb the baby when they are asleep. For the newborn infants, the sleep pattern is many times different. They sleep during the daytime and wake up and cry in the night. For most of the infants, it is usual to sleep for 18-22 hours a day which may lessen as they grow. For mothers it advisable to adjust to the baby’s timetable. Father’s support is the must here. Mothers shall be able to breed the kids superbly with the support given. So help your wives so that they’re able to nurture the baby best!
How to give peaceful sleep to the baby?
- Feed the baby before the baby sleeps. It helps the baby to digest better and eventually grow.
- During infancy, it is suggested to feed the baby every 2 hours and you may maintain it up to 2-3 months. In the later months of growing once the baby is sleeping wait for them to wake up. Do not disturb the sleep for the sake of feeding as the growth hormones in babies are supposed to be most active during their sleep.
- The bed should be clean, dry, warm and away from any objects that may harm the baby. Keep some pillows around the baby because it will work as a cushion and prevent the baby from falling down from the bed. It also gives the feeling of the baby that mom is around (In case the mother has to go anywhere in the house when the baby is sleeping).
- Change the diaper before the baby goes to the bed during night time.
- There should not be noise making toys in the room when the baby is sleeping, it may disturb the peaceful sleep of the baby.
- A family member should also take precaution and do not speak loudly when the baby is sleeping.
- A plastic sheet may be used under the bed sheet to prevent any sort of leakage (now a days a bed sheet like plastic sheets are readily available in the market).
