“Global E-connections causing local dis-connect” … Ptaa Hai…!!!
Technology is rapidly connecting the global world like a small village, just with few clicks, one can reach and communicate with people around the globe. It’s simple, easy and convenient for all. Gone are the days of “Choupals”, evening candid talks with neighbors, going for the picnic with family or meeting with the distant relations like cousin of - aunty’s - brother in law. This “Dur ke rishtedar” concept is not even in the picture when one is so engaged that he barely talks to own family.
Often we hear that s/he is so busy with laptop or mobile. This is not the case with one individual. It’s the problem of entire mankind, It’s severe in western nations where one has to take the appointment to meet own parents. In the same manner, its reaching out to the developing nations with much faster speed than the technology and is percolating in our daily routine too.
Our Mobile phones have Im-Mobilised ourselves. They have brought our life to a standstill. Aren’t we paying a heavy cost for convenience?
Why is this happening? One can happily chat and share everything with strangers, however, people of our acquaintances one would not even bother to say hello and are totally unmindful to ask about their well-being! Probably in this manner, this contagious virus of indifference is spreading like an epidemic in the society. We call it contagious because people retaliate in the manner they are treated. When people see others busy and indifferent they tend to behave in a similar way. Today everybody has an online identity and is worried to maintain that. In other words, all of us are carrying two personalities. The actual personality that we have developed and the online personality that people perceive by seeing our online activities/FB accounts/Posts etc. There are times when people would like to wish each other on eves or occasions over the social media but not socially. In a typical public transport, we may come across passengers putting FB posts of wishing each other Happy Independence day but wouldn’t take a cue to wish the fellow passenger.
Let’s not become mechanical in our life. Life means to be lively in our actions, expressions, and deeds. When at home take the time to interact with family. Speak to them, share something interesting, tease each other, cuddle around and develop the bonding. Learn the art of HAPTICS. Be communicative to people near around and see the magic. We pen down following ideas that may help to be away from this soon-to-be chronic behavior.
· It’s not long that we realized, Indian Railways is the best solution for taking a break and remain disconnected with the global connections and connect oneself with local people around.
· We came across another novel idea at a restaurant which has these special glasses which has to be balanced from the bottom using one's cell phones on the dining table. Hence, you are bound to keep the phones away and take the time to interact with the person sitting across. It is sure to cure the anti-social disease of being social on the internet but not in the real world!
· Take a day out with no phone, no laptop and be you.
· Unlearn about the technology and be a kid for few hours a day! It’s a remedy for many diseases and relations.
· Love is something we all want hence give and get back!
We are installing human-inspired artificial intelligence, expressions, and emotions in the machines around, we hope this shouldn’t lead to a situation where we will have to learn back our natural way of communications from them. Be more human, more lively and share your time will people around.
Be Social lest Social media…!!
